The building, once a focal point for many activities in the area – a pipe-band, Highland Games, sporting teams, Guiding and community events in general - fell into disrepair with an elderly committee who were no longer unable to maintain its status and presence. Covid lockdown further worsened the situation, with the demise of both the Highland Games and the pipe-band.
For over five years, a group of locals have been working to re-establish this much needed community resource. Currently, we are about to take full control of the buildings. As such we are a registered charity, with a team of dedicated Trustees, who are now working to secure the funding necessary to restore the buildings into a viable, thriving community hub.
Rosneath currently has none of the basic community activities it needs and deserves. Many of the area’s population serve with the Ministry of Defence in a range of roles. Families moving to the area area are frequently dismayed to discover the absence of those services they might expect: mother and toddler groups, support for Seniors, Youth Clubs, a cafe, locally accessed entertainment, sports facilities and so much more.
To date we have secured funding to poll our communities to learn what facilities and services they would like available. Using this as evidence of need, we are now seeking funding, initially, to make the building wind and water tight and safe. Thereafter, with a sound ‘shell’ we will be seeking further monies to make the buildings fit for those purposes the polling has identified.
To these ends, we urge our communities to take our survey/poll and let us know those facilities we should work to develop and maintain. We also invite anyone with ideas, hopes, vision and skills to join us in this endeavour. Nothing happens overnight, and nothing happens without optimism and determination. We know it will happen. We just need you, our communities, young and old, to join us in this vision. Your views and ideas will make it happen. Your participation will help us all to achieve and thrive.
